Great service and friendly staff with excellent food. Lovely walks across the moors and a warm winter welcome with a roaring fire. Unfortunately atmosphere was slightly off due to an idiot. I'm glad to say that Steve the landlord dealt with it in short thrift.... Great

We stumbled on this pub on the way back home from Huddersfield, The view of the pub was very appealing, and there was a large car park, behind the building.. Once inside the decor was slightly dated, but was done in a positive way, reminding me of pubs from 30 years ago, (Too many decent pubs have been revamped into sports pubs, or shut and converted into flats or houses) A couple of pints of bitter went down really well, and apparently the coke was good too. Quirky oldworldy Yorkshire pub. Visited for years with the family for good pub grub, of which the meat is sourced locally. Outstanding mixed grill which you may or may not be able to finish, and the best black pudding I've ever had. Go to Lower George expecting a proper Yorkshire experience with Steve and Margaret. The staff waiting the tables are always personable and a good laugh.
