Decent stop, but unfortunately in 2024 this establishment is closed!!! Hopefully we will see this business recover.

Great little place by the river and canal. Can be very busy so might have to wait sometimes. Has been closed for a few weeks recently for staff holidays I think. Can recommend.

The Cross Guns is closed and even though we had booked over 2 weeks in advance, nobody contacted us to tell us they have closed. First we knew was a note on the door saying they had closed due to flooding. Where the flood was, 40 foot above the river, was not apparent.

Kate and Poppy are absolutely fantastic! Great service and a lovely place to relax on a day off!

Great place. Greeting staff with a friendly smile that is willing to help anyone. It is located in beautiful scenery.

Rude staff straight off the bat! Very unhelpful, not serving hot food on a Sunday when it was advertised!

Absolutely gorgeous place to visit especially in the sunny weather, we visited with friends for a Sunday roast, parking was a little difficult but we found a spot, not the pubs fault at all as it’s owned by a different company for the area. But the pub, food & staff were great, we sat outside on the decking overlooking the canal and the most beautiful scenery, the food was top notch, great sized portions, and reasonably priced. It’s quite a busy place so I was glad my friend booked in advance.Dog & kid friendly and perfect for walks, we are looking forward to going back.

We visited this pub today for lunch after a walk along the canal and it was a total disappointment. The menu is very limited, with only about five main course options, and just one vegetarian main course option. Burgers, including a halloumi one for veggies, for some reason are only served on Mondays. My husband ordered the fish and chips (£16.50), which was mediocre and not at all generously portioned given the price point. His mushy peas were a minuscule scoopful. I ordered the small plate of stuffed peppers (£9.50) with rice and feta, which when it arrived was only one small pepper stuffed with rice and not a lot else, some cooked tomatoes on the side and the most pitiful amount of feta. The worst of all was the children’s option of Magherita pizza and French fries (£7). The chips were warm but the pizza slice was stone cold and a soggy, unpalatable mess. I only ate some of it because I was still hungry after my tiny helping of pepper. The setting of this pub is lovely, but the options, prices and quality of the food are all poor. We won’t be returning.

Absolutely stunning area, so scenic. The food was gorgeous, and the atmosphere was so serene. Only downside is that the roads to get there are very tricky and limited parking!

What I ordered was a flat white. What I got was a large insipid milky mess. Hard to understand why some establishments find this so difficult. A flat white should be a small intense experience (double shot) with a small quantity of minimally frothed milk. Also I think it’s a reasonable expectation that if you are drinking in, your drink is served in crockery not take away cardboard which is also bad for the environment.

Beautiful setting but this olde hostelry needs help for the future. A food menu with a wider selection and which isn't further limited at peak times (Sat) would, I believe, go a long way. Reducing portion sizes & cost /price, could perhaps be considered too? The meals that were able to be served were very good.

Lovely setting beside the river with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor on 3 levels. Dog friendly even has a water station. So clean and welcoming. Excellent friendly staffing. Good food choices including children's menu. Wish we could have stayed longer but passing through on narrowboatThank

Really friendly staff and my review is only based on personal preference but went there to eat with Family including my 4 year old son, only one person in the group of 6 could find something that they wanted to eat as the rest of us were unwilling to pay the prices for what seemed like a simple and limited menu. We decided to stay for drinks instead and I was the only one in the group that didn't like any of the lagers on tap. there was a bucket in the middle of the floor for a leaky ceiling and the toilets seemed like a squished in afterthought. Not the pubs fault, but the weather was bad, and if would have been sunny we could have sat in the beautiful beer garden taking in the views, and I'm sure my review would have been a little different. I was disappointed in the offerings of the pub overall but the location and staff were fantastic.

We were six friends on a long weekend canal holiday. We ate here on a Friday night at the end of the summer. We had a good experience, and felt the staff were welcoming and efficient. Beer was well kept, food was great and there were interesting veggie options which was nice. Unfortunately the kitchen closed at 8.30pm which we didn’t know when ordering, so we had a main course but found service had ended when we came back to order dessert. However, our server went out of her way to find a workaround, and offered us some rocky road on the house which we really appreciated. We had a great evening and would come here again (maybe slightly earlier next time!).
