“What a wonderful pub to visit in the Cotswolds! We were in the local area for a few days and we stumbled upon the Somerford Arms thanks to a Google search. Rachel couldn't have been any more friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious and would 100% recommend. We will definitely be back!”

“Had an incredible Sunday roast (and dessert!). The food was so good, especially the cheesy cauliflower ? the service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great - lovely cosy fire going. Had a roast, dessert and a few pints - definitely recommend if you’re in the area!”

“The menu is outstanding..the chefs just get it and surpass each time. I have been now numerous, many times with young and oldies and they all love the food, the service and ambience. We just return time and time again. You have to try the calamari and/or the crab as a starter and then check out the specials menu. Their fish menu is outstanding, freshly delivered every day and they cater for all, if not your thing. Just enjoyed their Sunday lunch this weekend with beef wellington and all that came with it was cooked to perfection. Beautiful crisp potatoes, yorkshire pudding and then the gravy. All hot and cooked to perfection. Lovely outside eating area, covered, inside bar area and then a beautiful barn room for eating or an occasion. Just outstanding.”

“This is a proper pub - good service, great atmosphere and excellent beer (even more so since Broadtown Brewery took over). This is not a gastropub or a Wetherspoons - if you want one of these, walk on by. If you want a proper boozer with some amazing history and the best beer in town, look no further than The Three Crowns.”

“We’d not been to The Garden for a while. I looked in at the window to check the menu and certainly liked what I saw. Also, I liked the notice saying that dogs are welcome up until 6.00 p.m. I myself will not eat in a room where there are domestic animals present because I have the view – more prevalent than some might admit – that dogs are essentially ‘unclean’. (If you don’t believe me, just watch how they socialise with one another in the park). So, we pitched up just before 6 and not a dog in sight. Had there been I would have taken my custom elsewhere. We got a friendly welcome and were given a super table in the window bay. Service was prompt and courteous. My wife enjoyed her Prosecco and I my glass of Rioja. The food was good and well-presented although the portions perhaps too generous for elderly people like us. Might the management think about this, offering smaller portions if asked? But perhaps you already do. Anyway – most people these days think that throwing good food away because it is left on the plate is just not acceptable. So why four stars and not five? For this reason alone: the volume of the ‘music’ being played over the speaker system was too much for us. ‘Speigel im spiegel’ at half the volume would have been enough but in fact I prefer no music at all. I go out in the evening for good food, good wine and good conversation that does not necessitate shouting, in pleasant surroundings. Really, if you stated as well as dogs being welcome until 6 o’clock that you would be music-less until 7 o'clock or 8, I cannot think it would have any negative impact on your number of customers, and perhaps even a positive one given that deaf old codgers like us tend to like an early night. I will always consider altering or deleting content should it be pointed out that I have inadvertently made a mistake in my reporting. “I had the blue cheese and steak pie and mash, the gravy was delicious, really flavoursome and thick and the pie was generous in meat with the blue cheese not too strong! Absolute winner. My colleague had a very generous portion of fish and chips, although I didn’t try it the batter was superb!”
