In answer to Richard Athertons post re the star & Garter. I was sitting at the the bar at the time of you entering the pub and I can assure you there wasn’t anyone smoking In the bar at all! There may have been someone using a VAP which is permitted !I’m not sure how you would know if the tables were sticky as you didn’t even take a seat.!! Great example of a proper pub. Good drink selection at great prices with very friendly and welcoming staff and regulars. Lots of entertainment on the weekends and happy hours through the week.

The service here was outstanding!I'd been loitering out front for barely 3 mins when I was shepherded inside with such efficiency that I let out an involuntary "baa"They made me "swear on my babys life that I had no kids" before they sat me down in front of an uncooked partially opened tin of Lamb Fray Bentos. I was offered a straw to consume it as a sand timer was placed in front of me which I deduced would last about 7 minutes.Nuff said
