I booked this hotel and spa for my partners 30th birthday and wanted it be special. I also made dinner reservations at their restaurant. I spoke to them a week or two in advance to let them know it was for my fiancés birthday and requested a happy birthday dessert in advance for my fiancé for his birthday which was not done and this was of course disappointing. While an impressive building this is a fairly small hotel in terms of room numbers, so it remains somewhere which offers a personal level of service in traditional style. Reception is merely a shelf on the side of the hallway but the staff are welcoming and try to assist with any query. Off the lobby is a nice reception room with a small bar and decent seating, which is a good place to get a casual lunch, or drink late at night too. We were guests on Sunday 6/8 at our friends 70th Birthday celebrations. We reiterate all the positive comments mentioned in the previous review. On arrival the ambience of the hotel was warm and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable Dinner in the evening was fabulous all beautifully served by Adam who was attentive but not intrusive.
