We arrived and our table not quite ready so had a drink in the bar. The place was very busy. We were seated at our table and menus brought. We opted for starters of whitebait, pate and soup. All was excellent and homemade. We were offered some complimentary breads but they never turned up. We also asked for a bottle of water for the table but again did not arrive. The mains came and they were delicious as well. Will definitely be back.
The best food we’ve had in absolutely ages and the staff were really friendly too. I had the sweet chilli battered prawns with chips abs Lemon mayo then the jam sponge. Honestly so delicious and great ambience.

Excellent meal. We travelled south from Carlisle to meet for a family celebration and met at the Black Horse as it was convenient for everyone. Was impressed with reviews so chose this pub. Booked easily on phone and they emailed menus as we were a large party it was easier for them if we pre-ordered. Kept in contact by emails with updates about our booking. Staff were brilliant and the food was excellent. Highly recommend. Nothing was too much trouble.
