Always an amazing visit to Langdale hotel & spa.A few visits to the pool and spa along with some great nearby walks.

Beautiful surroundings and hotel. Staff excellent, friendly and helpful. My friend has allergies but the staff went out of their way to accommodate these even producing a separate menu for her. Would definitely recommend. Update, from recent visit: still

Had a lovely stay here. The room was very comfortable and cozy. Surprised by the amenities provided during our stay. The surrounding estate offers scenic views and good walks. The spa area is a must visit to relax. Staff were very amicable and warm. The only critique I would make is that the food at the stove could be improved a little. It was a little lacklustre. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back!

We’ve been back here several times and always find very happy peace here. Brilliantly convenient for some gorgeous walks with incredible views. The rooms are always fantastic (great shower pressure if that’s your thing) and the on site restaurant (Stove) and the swimming facilities are very very good. We’ll be back again.

We went here using a Virgin Experience Voucher purchased for a 40th birthday. We had a 3 &1/2 hour drive to get there, which seemed a bit far to go for a 1 night stay & spa day, however it was SO worth it.The weather was poor, in-fact it rained the majority of our time there which was a shame because the surroundings are beautiful! On arrival, we checked in at reception. The receptionist was friendly & gave us clear information & instruction including a map so we knew where everything was. Checked our plans for dinner to make sure we knew where to eat, and our room was ready early - bonus! We stayed in one of the Fellside Signature rooms (179) which is a lovely spacious room, very clean, with a great bathroom.Bedroom: Nice large comfortable bed, tv, hairdryer, iron etc… Really well decorated. The dressing gowns in mesh bags & mints on the pillows were a nice touch.Bathroom: Power shower!! Fancy start button to turn it on, very clean, shampoo etc provided, towels were clean, soft & warm. There was even an umbrella which was fabulous and needed! Also the heating was on! So it was warm & cosy. Perfect! After checking in we made our way to the Spa. The staff were welcoming & helpful. We started with lunch and had a sharing Deli platter, the meat option, which was great quality food & a great portion size. So tasty! The platter was £25 (included in our voucher but still reasonably priced and would have been happy paying it), soft drinks around £6 for 2.After that we headed into the Spa changing area. The changing rooms were immaculate & clean smelling. Lockers were easy to use, no wrist band or key required. Clean gown & towel inside the locker. We wore our own footwear… The flip flops provided were in a basket. Used but looked clean. Great that they’re provided if you don’t bring yours (I think it’s gross but each to their own I suppose)The spa itself was quiet and peaceful. Super clean & tidy & well decorated. So calm & relaxing. My favourite was the herbal steam room & the outdoor heated pool. The ice flakes were fab to cool down after the saunas. Water infused with fruit provided to drink when needed. We stayed for our 3 hour slot.Back in the changing rooms to get showered and the cubicles were great. Roomy, powerful shower and shampoos etc provided. Very clean.Dinner: We chose Wainrights Pub for a more relaxed meal (and a 5 min walk) and the food and service was great!Sleep was undisturbed and comfortable. Love the sheets and bedding. Duvet thickness was perfect for the temperature.Breakfast: Staff were amazing, and the food was delicious! Non greasy, great quality & cooked to perfection. The Stove restaurant is beautiful (and so clean). We sat in the window of the glass front & I can imagine that on a sunny day the outside area would be just perfect! Roomy & not too close to other people. And then it was time to leave, sadly :(Check out was painless. I received an email bill for the drinks at the spa and paid that online before we left so all I had to do was give the room keys back. And that was it.Each building and pathway is well sign posted so you don’t get lost. Stunningly designed buildings and decor nestled within picturesque surroundings. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Although we were told that we had the last room when we booked, we barely saw many other people - which I loved! We also noticed that wellies were available to use. Another great touch. It seems they really have everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We can’t comment on anything else to do in the area as we weren’t lucky enough to explore.Hopefully we’ll get chance to come again, for longer than 1 night!Highly recommend staying here and using the spa - can’t fault a single thing!Rooms: Clean, well decorated and furnished, comfortable & cosyFood & drinks: Great quality food. Tasty. Reasonably priced.

Location is spot on.And staff members are lovely to talk to.However..For a 'posh' hotel (as they call them self's) however. I wouldn't recommend. The wall paper was coming off, there was hairs on our glasses, we had to clean the bathroom before we could use it, the kettle was disgusting with the amount of filth on it. The heating didn't work however this was sorted about an hour after letting reception know. Parking is a major issue. As for food. It's rather expensive but nice. Wouldn't say its worth the money they're charging however. As for bookings we were told we couldn't have a table for the first couple of nights which was annoying to say how much I paid to stay. When we did finally get a table we were told it was far too busy and getting the table could be a struggle. On the night it was dead, there was 2 other couples and an awkward silence as people ate.Would I recommend staying here? No. Saddly not. I was offered £100 voucher to use on site (which was nice to offer, thank you for that) but again that's wasted on me as I really didn't enjoy the experience at all and more annoyingly for my partner, neither did she which all this was for her, for her birthday.Rooms: Below a decent standard cleaning and maintenance wise. Layout was nice.Nearby activities: Lovely walks in the area.Safety: Fairly safe yes.Walkability: Plenty of hills to walk in.Food & drinks: They're okay. Presentation and quality needs to be upped for the price being charged.Noteworthy details: Location is gorgeous.

We came here for a night away costing £350 and were not met with value for money. The night away was a birthday gift from my partner after a very stressful year and sadly we were left disappointed. Our room at the fellside rooms had a path that ran right by it which meant people walking by could see right in which spoilt what would’ve been quite a nice view of the wooded area. We were suggested an evening meal at the local pub due to a busy restaurant on site that evening and when we arrived at 7pm the pub kitchen was closed. We returned to the hotel to order room service and were told the only food available from the menu was pizza, we ordered two and only ate half of each due to the strange flavour combinations. The spa was nice itself, with plenty of options in terms of saunas, steam rooms etc but the hot tub was poor, very small with only room for 6 people max in the outdoor area. We were provided with a platter of food which included 4 slices of cold meats and handfuls of pickled veg. Not good enough for two people to share let alone enjoy. The meal also did not come with a drink which we had to then pay for seperately. The location is beautiful, and the local villages are lovely to walk around. The lady in reception was very helpful in assisting us on our return journey home due to a local road closure. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were all very kind and welcoming however we had to book breakfast for 10am as this was the only available option upon our arrival the day before and the staff began packing away food from the buffets by 10:15 meaning we didn’t get much eaten. We will not be returning as there are far better hotel and spa options available in the lakes at a far better price.

Just back from a 2 night stay here for my 50th birthday, had a waterside room (174) overlooking the river … stunning view of the rapids. Used the spa for an afternoon … fantastic. Breakfast very good. Restaurant decor and lounge areas are lovely. Beautiful site with lovely waterways running through the gardens. 5 minutes walk to the pub for more good food … which you can add to your hotel room bill. Had an issue whilst there which was promptly and efficiently sorted by the duty manager. Overall highly recommend and we look forward to returning to explore more of the local area and relax in the spa.

Room was a signature room, comfortable bed nice bathroom. Entrance hall had a motion sensor light which was that sensitive it just kept going on and off which was really annoying. The safe was really old and difficult to use because of its age. Apart from that everything else was acceptable. With regards to price of room they need to fix the motion sensor light and definitely replace the old safe.

As the title says, not great. Positives: Spa is really lovely, and beautifully designed. Massage was the best I’ve ever had. Restaurant staff were brilliant, great breakfast and lovely surroundings. Amazing walks on the doorstep. Negatives: Hotel room was vastly overpriced for what it was. In a dated building on the edge of the complex. Cramped space and bog standard travelodge-type furnishing. View of the car park and staff smoking area. Booked a meal for our anniversary, were told they could only do burgers and pizzas. Jacuzzi out of order in the spa, and not enough staff so were waiting 30 minutes for drinks. Still had a lovely time, but really not worth the amount of money we paid. Told staff at checkout but they tried to brush it off.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Staff were great and very helpful and polite. Felt like we were staying at a luxury location. Stove restaurant was lovely having just reopened. Superb quality ingredients including breakfast which was outstanding. Even the orange juice was excellent (I hate cheap juice), tasted freshly squeezed. Only gripe was the bathroom basin was too small as you'd bash your head on the glass shelf when rinsing after a shave. I'm clutching really! Would definitely go back. Stay here, you'll love it.

The location is superb; within walking distance of 2 good pubs, a good village shop and feels very secluded. The grounds are really well maintained and largely beautiful. There is a really nice restaurant and bar on site (The Stove) and the staff are amazing. There were a few things, however, that were quite disappointing. Our room (Signature Roomy) was spotless and well equipped. However, what would have been a lovely view was ruined somewhat by a busy walkway running right through the centre of the window. The walkway cuts what would be a nice view off. Every now and then you'd see feet walking past one window and, in the other one, people can see straight into the room as they approach. The receptionist understood, as she said "yes I know the room you mean". This sounds picky but, at £250 per night, we were disappointed. Reception were unable to move us as they were fully booked, but did offer a move on the 2nd day. It should be made clear that, whilst you get access to the "Leisure center", a stay at Langdale doesn't get you access to the spa; that's costs £85 per person per day to access. The website notes the Leisure Center to be the "perfect place to relax after a day's hiking"... that was definitely not the case. Its rammed with children throughout the day and is complete chaos. On the day we stayed, there was a Coronation Party so we were accompanied by music of a brass band. Not the tranquil scene I'd hoped for and really disappointing. I'd expected the pool to have child free times but it didn't. We were hoping to relax and have a romantic weekend here and was quite surprised that children seemed to be in the pool throughout the day. We ended up paying for access to the Brimstone Spa which was much better but is quite small. Again, it was very busy and there's actually limited space to relax within the spa itself (outside of the many steam and sauna rooms that is). Frustratingly, people dump towels on all of the outside seating and never use it (holiday resort style!). Across the spa and our food and drinks bill, we managed to rock up a bill of around £350 (1 nights meal and then drinks) and, on top of £500 for the room 2 nights, are left feeling a little short changed.

Stayed here recently and enjoyed every second of the stay. Chose this venue as it didn’t appear to be quite as pretentious as some of the places in the Lake District and had a good mix of restaurants and other places to eat nearby. So glad we chose here. The staff couldn’t do enough to help and even made us cocktails not on the menu. The pub a short walk away was also fabulous and served great food. We enjoyed an afternoon in the spa, and kicked this off with a complementary deli platter which was delicious. We ate at Stoves one night and the food was superb…a little pricey (but isn’t everywhere currently) but still absolutely superb. My only criticism (and it is a VERY small one) concerns the breakfast. This was a buffet style with lashings of the usual bacon and sausages etc (which were delicious) but they seriously need to sort the speed on the conveyor toaster. One pass was warm bread and two passes was burnt to a crisp. Could also do with providing small pots for tea, instead of having to put a bag in a fairly small cup each time. The breakfast niggles aside, this was a hugely enjoyable stay and we will be returning.
