“What a great stay. The place was very chilled and relaxing . Awesome accommodation. The food was excellent. Phil was super relaxed, friendly and accommodating. The locals had heard what I was doing and they were super friendly and came over and chatted with me. Definitely recommend and I’m certainly putting the word out to everyone who is doing Lands End to John o’Groat.

The food was amazing, we got 2 of the stew with dauphinoise potatoes in a huge Yorkie, my daughter got a chicken burger, fresh chicken breast, it was huge, the food was delicious, hearty and good value for what it was, the dog enjoyed his sausage as well, the staff were lovely girls, great atmosphere”

“We were in Appleby on a coach trip so couldn't spend too long in a pub. I like good cask beers and it didn't look great. The lady behind the bar put a good one on for me specially and made us feel so welcome. Wish all pubs could be so friendly and welcoming. Well done, this pub is the best in Appleby. “Great full pint of Ribblehead ale, perfect temperature.
We called in on the off chance on a walk and we were so pleased to find that there was Sunday lunch available. A big plateful of freshly cooked roast beef, homemade Yorkshire pudding, mashed and roast potatoes, roast parsnips and mashed sweet potato, with delicious gravy. The plate was so full the other veg had to come in a separate bowl. We were too full for pudding.
The pub is full of character but unpretentious and the landlord and landlady were friendly and chatty.

“We stopped here on the way to Scotland for a light lunch and the hotel / restaurant was amazing - lovely seating area outside, great menu with lots of great choices - very fast service and excellent food which was extremely well presented. They even have a little Geleto place out front where you can buy teas, coffees and cake and ice cream - we will defo stop here again on our travels 10/10 from us!”
