Have been visiting the hidden gem that is Kirkby Lonsdale for many years now,and visit our favourite spot (Plato's)on a very regular basis!Today we had the best Sunday Roast ever! The entire meal is the best quality ingredients and perfectly cooked and presented,as well as being excellent value.Tony,Jess and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming, which all makes for a great experience.....which our dog Mojo will testify to?So when in town make sure you go along, and come out with a smile?Enjoy,Liz,Doug &Mojo.Nearby activities: Plato,s location slap dab centre of town, full of independent little shops and beautiful walks from doorstep.Food & drinks: Always busy for food and drinks.....nuff said!

This is Sir John’s Tapas bar which is downstairs in Plato’s Bar. It’s not been open long but if you are in the area give it a go. It’s well worth it. Downstairs in Plato’s is beautiful and atmospheric. There is a good selection ofTapas on the menu and some nice wines to choose from. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We had probably the best Apple and Caramel crumble in the world!?. We will be back very soon.

We had a lovely chateaubriand lunch. The service and meal was excellent. Highly recommend Plato's for a relaxed, welcoming destination whether for drinks or a meal. .

We called in the restaurant on spec late afternoon yesterday with my 5 friends (Tuesday in December) the chef was happy to accommodate us even though it was between meal times. The waitress was lovely and friendly the food was cooked to perfection. Lovely ambiance too. Would highly recommend it.Nearby activities: Lovely village nice pubs and local walks.

Very pleasant hotel with good big beds and full baths. Top breakfasts with.mimosas included. Top notch restaurant.Rooms: Good sized room with double bed, en suite bathroom with soaking tub.Safety: Safe hotel in safe little village.Food & drinks: Good breakfast included, full English buffet style ( but clean, not like a Vegas buffet ).Great restaurant in evenings with lovely rack of lamb.Spar grocerette just opposite for snacks and reasonably priced wine.

Fantastic restaurant, great service, friendly and helpful staff. We shared a delicious salami and prosciutto platter, then had a fabulous lemon sole. It looked and tasted so great, I completely forgot to take a picture until it had all gone.Loved it. Can't wait to go back.Food & drinks: Great food, brilliant menu.

Overall a disappointing visit to Plato's , the table booking service and reminders via Google, staff service and the atmosphere and restaurant themselves were all excellent... the only underwhelming thing for us was the food itself, relative to the price we paid, the quality of the sirloin steak and the haddock were not great taste wise ... just ok ... and to not offer a peppercorn sauce accompanying a sirloin steak but instead be offered a pot of gravy is not great. We know it mentioned "peppercorn butter" on the menu but we did overhear another table enquiring about the same issue.Overall not a great experience and we would probably dine elsewhere when returning to the town.
