“I went to GoC for my partner’s birthday and the food was incredible and the service was great. We had a lovely meal; steak, duck breast, cheee soufflé and sticky toffee pudding. Can’t fault the flavours and it made for perfect fine dining!Vegetarian options: Not too many veggie options.”

“We make a point come here every time we visit Penrith. We love it. Good menu, huge portions of great grub, sensible pricing, dog friendly, chatty locals, comfortable furnishings and they have a few TVs on if you follow sport. A really easy place to come eat, any time of day.Parking: There's a small free carpark just a few doors up in the market Square, or Sainsbury's is a short walk away you can have a few hours”

“We went to the White Horse for dinner one Friday evening whilst staying with friends in the area. What a lovely welcome we had and great food as well. The menu is not extensive, which is good as everything was freshly prepared. Many, if not all, of the ingredients are locally sourced, another bonus for us. Between us we tried several of the starters. I had the stuffed courgette flowers which were fantastic, the others had the leeks with sauce mimosa and the heritage tomatoes with anchovies, capers and tapenade. For a main course I had the beetroot, onion and goats cheese tart - absolutely delicious. My husband had the pork chop with roast marrow and our friends both had the lamb kofta. We were really too full for a dessert but decided to share one - the Tunisian orange cake, heaven on a plate. We were also given the plum galette to try, which was equally delicious. Despite some of the negative comments on here, we found the atmosphere very pleasant, the staff friendly and welcoming and the food definitely worth the trip.”

“Young chap with blonde hair (don't know his name) behind the bar was very nice. We went 2 nights in succession, once in the restaurant, once in the bar area. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a tv which was thankfully off and background music which was just that, so good for us. It was tastefully decoated and furnished. Overall ambience of upmarket and quality. The weather was abominable and we went at night so can't comment on the outside. We didn't use the toilets. We would certainly return.”

“Called into The Pinny today to get out of a torrential rain storm. The two lovely ladies were really welcoming getting a towel to dry off my puppy and get him some water. They also ran outside and got drenched to give a lady a umbrella that was soaked to the skin. Thank you both for your kindness.”
