You MUST go here... Absolutely ? on assisting us when we couldn't travel to Millom in the heavy snow, abandoning the car by the main road, we enquired with a few other similarly stranded for a meal and board and to the staffs credit (lovely bar lady) they sorted a cosy single for me my partner ? the food was a Lamb Stew with chips and the Cider on tap was awesome...Great meal! people were friendly and helpful too...next day they opened at 12 noon, and we ate a hearty sliced...read full review

This pub is fantastic on all fronts. Lovely, well kept, and very clean. It has a lovely atmosphere catering for all ages and is dog friendly. The menu , offered weekly, focuses on locally produced food, including venison from Grizedale and beef from adjoining farms. There is a good choice for persons with allergies or vegan by choice.

We had the first Sunday roast which came as a 2 course meal the staff are trying out for the near future. The food was delicious and reasonably priced at £26 per head. As always the staff are so efficient and pleasant. We hope that future Sunday openings do occur and we will certainly return.
