“Generous portions and very good service. The mixed grill is huge and my wife donated her black pudding. They even have a draught beer in the pub's name. The only problem is that they have a small car park.”

“Every time I work in Whitehaven I come here for my evening meal. Always a lovely welcome and the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Rump steak two sides and a dip (see photo) for £23.50 … happy days!”

“Went to the Dog @ Partridge yesterday with my family and we will definitely be back. We only got snacks and drinks but the staff were so friendly and attentive, we felt so welcomed. The food we had (especially the chips!) was gorgeous. Thank you!”
Pubs • “No food these days, but good selection of bar snacks including XL Cheese and the pints of Loweswater Gold are perfect, Usually another real ale is available. Service excellent. Nice crowd, like when I last drank in here in 2010. Prices very reasonable.

“Went there with 20 friends, mostly from America. What a great experience. First off they decorated the upstairs for my birthday without anyone asking. Second the waitresses were amazing. Very attentive and ensuring everyone was happy. The food was amazing and everyone left happy. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant in Whitehaven. Next visit we’ll be back.”
