We have spent the last week in Matlock on holiday and the Wellington was local to where we were staying. We visited Saturday night where we met with a friendly staff member who was engaging, firstly asking whether we wanted any fish cooked. Having made our order a local lady started chatting with us and it was clear from the trade coming through the door and on the phone that locals love this place. Best fish and chips I’ve had in years! Unlike most, the batter is perfectly crisp and the chips are delicious. Plus, the way it’s presented is not too overwhelming. I finished every bit. Lovely, well done!
On a few days holiday up in Matlock and searched on line for gluten free fish and chip shops. After looking in Matlock Bath and not being overly impressed by the one place that catered for gf, we searched Matlock itself. This place came up so headed that way.
