Ordered chicken and mushroom pies (£4.30 for an individual pie) plus chips and mushy peas. Got home unwrapped ready to enjoy. The pies were so thin there was very very little amount of filling 1 small piece chicken no mushrooms just a sauce. They were so awful my husband and I threw them away. We have used this fish &chip shop for 23yrs, but I will carefully consider whether to go again. Only had takeaway, so just the non-committal 3 stars for Atmosphere.Down to Berry Head with conserving friends. We benefitted from fairly free flowing traffic along A303/A30/M5/A380, and arrived at Squires just in time to be served before 2pm on a Friday afternoon. I can recommend the Mushy Pea Fritter, tasty, toothsome and filling.Vegetarian options: Try the Mushy Pea Fritter. We moved to Devon in March having and have been trying to find the best chips in the area. We were previously spoilt by having the Calamari in Polegate. (Rubbish Town but best chips ever!)Anyway, Squires is very clean and has an attached restaurant if you fancy a sit down chippy tea. The take away section is staffed entirely by teenagers with few social skills.As for the food, I had a mushy pea fritter 8/10 but the chips..... soggy, not crispy, lukewarm and nor particularly fluffy...read full review
