We stayed here on a Thursday night for a business trip, after a few nights staying in a Premier Inn. What a lovely change of scenery. On arrival, a warm welcome before been shown to my room. The setting is a classic, good Old English Country pub, with the exact atmosphere. The bar is a lovely, social place, which offers a great variety of beers, wines and spirits. Every aspect of our experience of The Ship was friendly, professional, and excellent. From our initial phone reservation, our enquiry about the lunch menu, our welcome, service and food (exceptional!) was just great. We will be returning, and this establishment is a real contender to other high profile restaurants not too far away!
We joined a big group of friends at The Ship in West Stour to celebrate a birthday. About 22 of us I think so a big challenge for the kitchen to service the crowd with starters, mains and desserts as well as drinks and extras. The waiting staff were friendly, professional and efficient. My meal was lovely, starting with tasty spare ribs, followed by lamb shank and sticky toffee pudding … really excellent dishes. Congratulations to Sarah and Nick … smashing it!
