Restaurants in Alfriston
Six Bells
High St, Alfriston, PolegateThe absolute best pies we ever had. We were a party of three and had three different pies and they were all very delicious.
The atmosphere of the old pub is really cosy and we loved their totally relaxed and friendly pub dog.
The seating area outside is nice as well since you have a great view of the church and the meadow behind it.
What a find by coincidence!

Poco
3 High St, Alfriston, PolegateWe had a delicious meal for 2. Our table was situated in the old fire place, which was unusual, but cosy - which suited us.
Every plate of food was returned empty.
Starters were the crab which was delicate with a great homemade crumpet. Zucchini flower which had a lovely balance of flavour and texture.
Mains Ragu and carbonara, both delicious and filling for a respectable sized portion, the side salad was simple and a light hint of vinegar to give it a little more interest.
Tiramisu was great as was the lemon tart, which was tart and refreshing. After carby mains.
Try the Everflyht sparkling with the crab for a great combination of flavours.
Would return without hesitation. Thank you for a lovely evening.

The Wingrove Restaurant & Terrace
High St, Alfriston, PolegateFabulous well equipped room with super comfortable bed and amazing restaurant, very reasonably priced during the week but not so much on a weekend with room rates more than doubling, that said still worth it.

The Plough & Harrow
Plough & Harrow, The St, Litlington, PolegateExcellent - people are really on it. Great beer selection from the neighbouring Long Man brewery and good nosh. We went lastly with a large, probably disorganised, group of 20+, and they coped admirably

The Cricketers Arms
Berwick, PolegateEdit...we had another wonderful lunch here again for Easter and the food was at the same high standard as before. As we drove this time parking was a bit of an issue. It was easier to walk from Alfriston which takes about half an hour. What a lovely little pub to have our Easter Sunday lunch. We had fortunately booked as it was full inside, there were tables available outside. We arrived half an hour early but our table was ready. Attentive and cheerful staff who took our order down correctly and served food in a reasonable amount of time. The food was excellent. If we're in the area we will definitely eat here again. Lots of lovely walks nearby too, we walked a round loop from Alfriston.
