Fabulous seafood. Staff were helpful in explaining the menu. Food was beautifully prepared. Ample portions. Some of the best mussels we have ever eaten - and we’ve eaten quite a few.
We have eaten at English's many times over the years but this week they demonstrated that they still deliver simply outstanding dining. Our family party of four were greeted warmly and courteously at the door, our coats taken and, without prompting, shown to the window table we had requested. Their service belongs to a bygone era - respectful, professional, discreet and efficient. You know what you are getting at English's. Proper service, proper table linen, super wine list, the best oysters, traditional menu of expertly cooked fish. Expensive - Yes, Does it deliver - Absolutely. We shared the bread & mackerel pate, oysters, 700gm dover sole, mashed potato & spinach - can not stop raving about it.
