A gem in a wonderful village. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and no nonsense grub! Special shout out to Owen, what a friendly and welcoming barman.Vegetarian options: Great veggie burger

I was staying at the seemingly expensive East Sussex National along the road. Myself and wife decided to book for a Sunday lunch: we both had the roast lamb which came with all the trimmings. It was excellent! Dessert was by way of sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel & honeycomb ice-cream - which was equally as lovely.When you come in it seems to have a real country/village pub atmosphere and the bar staff were amazingly friendly and attentive.Great food, great selection...read full review

While staying in the area we were wandering around looking for somewhere to eat. Fortunately we came across the King's Head - alas it was a Monday and no food available that evening. However the publican and locals were so welcoming we had a drink and vowed to return the next evening. More locals and just as friendly a welcome was topped by excellent food on our return. Plese could you move to Derbyshire and become our local?
