After a windswept walk along the promenade, the comforting warmth, pleasant seating, old world decor and posters, not to mention the amazing food, refreshed and revitalised us for a walk along the pier. The fish tasted so fresh, the batter was wonderfully light and crispy, and the chips were perfect; crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside and a good chunky size. I was on a day trip to Eastbourne recently with three elderly friends. (We are all over the age of 70.) We thought Harry Ramsden's would be too expensive for us but looked through the window at the menu prices. They seemed reasonable so we went in and were immediately shown to a table. To our delight we discovered a special deal for the elderly - what I called the 'old lady menu'.
