I was in Cumbria for a wedding but I also had some time for a poke about. I'd left behind 25⁰ sunny beach weather and headed 400 miles north ! Having spent an hour swimming in a frigid Lake Ullswater I fancied a pint on the way back to my digs and this place looked cool as I drove past ; locals outside having a right laugh. We suspect that the ceiling hasn't been painted since the smoking ban - but that just added to the charm of the place. Clearly popular with locals but friendy to strangers like us!

The Horse and Groom is a pub we have been to many times before as we like it there. It wasn't very busy this evening but still had a good atmosphere.Please don't change it, a good old fashion pub.
