We went yesterday for an impromptu lunch after learning that the pub was dog friendly. We were made really welcome as was the dog. The log fire was burning brightly making the place toasty. I had the Christmas menu - turkey with all the trimmings and my husband had the ham, egg and chips. Both were served promptly and with generous portions. We had a very warm welcome and were seated straight away. Nice menu and very reasonable priced. Staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. We shared a starter (stilton mushrooms and freshly cooked bread, very nice) and both had roast beef with a side of cauliflower cheese, plenty of gravy and horseradish sauce. Visited here a lot for Sunday roast usually good staff and good food. Rang today to see if we could get a table and staff member was rude said no roasts left and they had run out then proceeded to put the phone down! Her attitude was very rude and by her tone of voice she was obviously having a bad day but to be hung up on was no need .
