the service and food was only just ok! We Would definitely return there again and are looking forward to a the next visit.

Skinners Arms
Station Rd, ManningtreeThis is a nice village local. Staff are very efficient and very friendly. Good menu selection including vegan. They often have a band or singer on Friday or Saturday nights. The garden is safe and wonderful!

The Haywain Pub and Kitchen
Bentley Rd, ManningtreeWe just celebrated my Grandma’s 80th birthday at the Haywain. What a wonderful time had. 23 of us seated for Sunday lunch in their events room at the back. The food was absolutely class. A very generous portion of meat with a choice of Beef, Lamb, Chicken, Pork & Fish. I had the beef brisket which was so tender and tasty. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The venue is superb with a nice selection of drinks and a lovely outside area which offers cover and sun spots. Highly recommend.

Delicious homemade quiche fresh and warm right out of the oven, fresh scones and cakes, yummy milkshakes, the best Suffolk ham, and nice selection of deli gifts and take home products. The best lattes in town and the service is outstanding. Reasonably priced and excellent quality. Nice quiet (and cool) hidden gem!

AL FRESCO Cuisine.
The Walls, Mistley, ManningtreeStopped there this morning on my motorcycle. Most weekends some other bikers to chat with so good company. Right on the river so great location. James the owner is a good bloke and knocks up a great cuppa, bacon/egg rolls and burgers. Out on your bike and fancy a break you can't go wrong. 13/4/2024.

7 South St, ManningtreeHad lunch here with my partner the other day. A few of the options on the hot lunch menu were not available which was dissapointing as it wasn't a large lunch menu (this to be honest is a good sign as it shows what is offered is fresh). We both ordered the cheese quiche with salad (you can chose either 1 or 2 salads - they weren't big - more of just a dressing really - my 2 'salads' were green salad and couscous). With my lunch I had an apple juice which was lovely. When the lunch came to the table, it wasn't as big as expected and unfortunately I left still rather peckish. For just over £10 for one lunch I'd have wanted a bit of a bigger portion. However the quality and taste of the food was super. The servers were friendly. Unfortunately the table we sat down at hadn't been cleaned down but probably just a one off oversight. It happens! The cake looks good so I'll be back for some of that and a coffee!

42 South St, ManningtreeAttended the excellent life drawing class in the function room upstairs. Chatted with friendly staff and another customer at the bar. A relaxed bar and background music stayed in the background so it was easy to chat and hear each other speak.You can bring food from local takeaway venues and eat it here.
I'll definitely be visiting this pub on a regular basis.

The chips are clearly where they make their money, at nearly £3 for a small portion they could be considered extortionate. The smell of the beef dripping while very nice, does become a bit invasive after a while.

Fish & Chips, 5 High St, ManningtreeCame here from Basildon and was blown away by the value, service and lovely food. Can't fault it except we didn't like the sav but that was down to personal preference (prefer a smokier pink one). Everything else was lovely tho and can't believe some of the bad reviews are actually real. We ordered large cod and got two pieces of what would normally be large cod anyway in our local and gave us two cod roe, again because they said they were small but were the same as what we are used to. Would definitely return if we are back in the area. Fantastic value. Thanks.
Kid-friendliness: Talking to my 11 year old like they have known her forever. Very friendly.

The Crown
51 High St, ManningtreeWe stayed here for 2 nights to visit friends. The staff were very efficient and welcoming and in particular Andy & Kate couldn’t do enough for us. Great parking also at the rear of the hotel. Our room was very spacious and modern with lots of attention to detail to ensure that we had everything we needed. I loved the bed, so comfy and linen was of a lovely quality. Our bathroom was also a wow ? and great locally produced complimentary toiletries that smelt great ?. We hadn’t planned to have breakfast at the hotel however on our second day we booked in and were so pleased we did. Great menu, reasonably priced and with a lovely view of the River. I had the smashed avocado on toast and swapped the smoked salmon option for poached egg and it was beautiful. I would recommend to book in advance as the locals clearly knew how good the breakfasts were so it filled up very quickly ?. On the whole we were very impressed with The Crown quality facilities and location and are already planning a return stop over in August 2024. This time we’ll definitely be bringing Martha ? as it was super doggie friendly too.

3-5 South St, ManningtreeWe ordered Tandoori mixed grill and home made chicken briyani. Both of them are excellent. Service was excellent as well. Staff were so helpful. Definitely recommended. Meat is halal as well.
