I’ve always wanted to visit The George and see its history, so as we had an event booked at southwark cathedral, it seemed like a good opportunity. I booked table online easily the week before but wasn’t sure where to choose to sit as I did not know the layout. I made a note of this in my requests. Great pub, absolutely fascinating and a great piece of history. Interior of the pub is beautiful, with a lovely outdoor terrace (when it’s not raining) Good range of drinks and refreshments, in close proximity to the Shard and Borough Market. A proper London pub
I chose the George because the building sounded interesting, otherwise it felt like a bit of a gamble because we wanted somewhere quiet where we could chat to our granddaughter. When I booked I was told the best place would be the Talbot Room but when we got there we were told it wasn't open that evening.
