Amazing, accommodating pub with the community at the heart of what they do. Greeted as a friend as soon as we stepped inside. Met landlady Liz and Carol who cheerfully chatted to us. Even Carol's dog Poppet was friendly!! The pub really made our day and is the main draw back to staying at Hebden Bridge. Ignore the tape on the floor, who cares? An absolute gem of a place with a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and cozy, homely, community feel. The food was fantastic, we had the gammon and chips, the gammon steak was huge and thick, not small and wafer thin, like some places. Great value for money. Liz, the landlady and her staff made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble

We have eaten here twice, both times haddock and chips for us but the grandchildren ate different meals. It was excellent. The batter was crisp and fish flakey. Charlie said it was the best chicken burger ever. The staff are really good and the atmosphere is good.Kid-friendliness: We had three boys with us. The youngest 9. They enjoyed their food and the atmosphere.
