Popped in here after a long walk for a warm drink. As someone who is dairy-free, I was pleasantly surprised to have the rare opportunity of choice, since they offered dairy-free milk alternatives.I chose to have a hot chocolate which was lovely although scolding hot as first. We have been here several times before when it was Lily's and the Old Teahouse and it was a lovely, informal cafe with great service and food. Today was our 1st visit for breakfast since new management has taken over and we were disappointed. When we arrived, the staff were dressed in black suits like funeral directors. We came for an afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious! The sandwiches & wraps were filled generously, amazing cheese straws, two scones each with the jam and cream, macaroons, mini trifle and then a big slice of cake. There was so much food, we took our cake home for later! We also had coffee to go with it and that was delicious too. The staff were friendly and the tea room was cozy and clean. We will DEFINITELY be returning! ?
