If I could give ten stars I would! A wonderful pub - we booked as we were staying locally for our wedding anniversary. The staff were welcoming and so friendly - the food was delicious - the smoked mackerel rillette was tasty but not overpowering - plentiful portion. For main I had the Lymington crab salad with fries - a while dressed crab with a mixed salad which included heritage tomatoes accompanied by super crunch chip - so tasty! Hubby was a bit put off at the beginning after being seated and told they wouldnt take our order for 15mins so we had time to look at the menu. We shared nachos to start and the melted cheese was yummy. Hubby had a magnificent gammon steak and I went for the battered cod and chips. It came out to the oohs and ahs of the rest of the customers, looking rather huge and stately on a huge wooden platter. Lovely little characterful country pub with ample beer garden and friendly staff. However a word of warning for those wanting food on 2nd Wednesday of the month. Although the kitchen is normally open 6pm-8pm it is closed on this day due to a quiz that starts at 8pm and tables are fully booked for that. Crisps and nuts are available.
