We were visiting Hereford for the day and fancied a Chinese for lunch, we came across the Golden River and noticed the lunchtime offer of 3 courses for £9 a head which seemed an excellent offer. Not sure why the place was empty other than ourselves, the food was delicious probably the best chicken and sweetcorn soup I have ever tasted and my partner thoroughly enjoyed his chicken noodle soup. We have eaten here before. We noticed that prices have risen not a problem expected,but to remove the sweet from the set meal as well as raise prices isn't acceptable. Also disappointed in the sweet & sour chicken the sauce was that sour it was bordering on being inedible. Won't be going back again.

Had a set menu for 4 and a few other dishes as it was our first time and we wanted to try out different dishes. Although it was very nice all dishes lacked seasonings and spice. There was no spice options or dips. Just one other comment satay was not a satay it was very sweet and again no seasoning or spice and they need to find a better way of cooking the squids. We could not eat any of it. If you improve all these things then you would be having 5 star.
