I live in Southern California. In 1988 I was traveling by car with a friend all over the UK. We were in the area, it was getting late, and I saw a sign that said Ross-on-Wye, and since my last name is Ross I wanted to check it out. We walked into the Eagle Inn, and I told the lady my last name, and we were needing a place to stay for the night. A decent pub with very good prices for bitter. My only objection was the huge number of TV screens showing premiership games. If you're a football fan and can afford £2.10 for a pint of bitter then you can't go wrong with the Eagle.

Years ago The Eagle was a bit on the rough side but now it's smart, clean and modern. Drinks are very reasonably priced, there's a large outdoor area out the back and the staff (and cat) are friendly.
