Update April 2022 :The pub is basically back to normal as a proper pub, with no social distancing restrictions etc. Food is no longer served in the evenings, just lunchtime. The pub cat Windy has sadly since died. Currently, I am trying to persuade Landlord Dave to stock some decent low alcohol bottled bitters e.g. Old Specked Hen 0.5%, which knocks spots off the Heineken lager versions. Last orders are now more strictly enforced at 11.30pm most days.Original review during lockdown...read full review

Spur of the moment visit for lunch with my mum.Very friendly service.Great menu with traditional classics that sadly seem missing in a lot of today's modern pubs. Difficult to choose what to have. It was a chilly day so I opted for the steak and kidney pudding with new pots and fresh veg. It was delicious but couldn't quite manage the large portion. Nice quaint pub, away from the traffic of the common down the road. Service was really lovely and friendly - the man behind the bar was an absolute delight! Good prices - around £9 for a pint of Thatchers and a pint of Strongbow.Lovely beer garden area to enjoy the drinks in, as well as a gorgeous building to snoop around.Sadly, food seemed limited to certain time frames which meant we couldn't eat when we visited, which was a shame as would love to have tried their meals.
