I've wanted to visit for a feed for a while so we decided to drive up and head in on a whim just as the kitchen opened on Saturday evening. Served with fresh ale and sat immediately, we were. What a treat. The pork chop and steak were delectable, as were the sides of tenderstem and carrots. Managed to squeeze in a wedge of the spiced plum tart, which, I reckon, I could eat endlessly. Delicious food (we had rabbit & ham hock pie with hispi cabbage and mustard gravy - fabulous) and friendly staff. Great service and nice atmosphere - perfect lunch after a long walk.Vegetarian options: Only drawback is limited veggie options and no mention of vegans at all, so I wouldn’t bring friends with these preferences here, which is a shame, because I’d like to come again with anyone!
