Not really the standard we were expecting. Our small table was by the window which overlooks the bus station. However a large skip was on the pavement and the fringe curtain certainly didn't obscure it ! The scones were ok with plenty of jam and cream but the cake selection included one of each type between two of us. The sandwiches consisted of four triangles of bread with uninteresting fillings . Having missed out on two birthday celebrations due to lockdowns, my hopes were high that my experience at the Exchange restaurant for an afternoon tea would be a special one. Positive points: service was good and responsive to my requests for a fresher pot of tea. Cakes were good. Not so positive: the tea which was brought was absolutely flavourless, with no additional pot of hot water to top it up. Stopped by for a drink, and a break from a busy day. Unfortunately it was in the swing of Christmas party season so it was very busy. The football was also playing which and was quite loud so you couldn’t relax. People were being sick in the toilets and they were u clean and lacking in loo roll. It was all quite off putting.
