“Sat outside on a balmy afternoon. Staff were friendly and helpful and drinks were reasonable. A very old pub with, no doubt, a fascinating history, sandwiched between Hoylake's glorious promenade and the High St.”

“Amazing food and good sized portions too. However, no personality to place with service . Pointed out glass for water was dirty to have it replaced with another that had lipstick on it . Would have thought waitress would check it carefully I’d first was dirty . My glass had a large chip missing too. Shared the chipotle nibbles for a starter - so much for one person . Sausages were lovely and so was the sauce .Had the Chile beef and hubby had the pie. The pie came and thought it was choc fudge cake for a moment with sauce on as it was a huge pie slice and gravy ok it. Tasted delicious. Didn’t have room for desserts . Drinks menu and was very extensive and lots of local drinks too .”

“We had a table for eight, the surroundings were warm and inviting the service from MillieWas exceptional , our food starters mains and deserts plus wine were of high standard. enjoyable evening had by all ?”

“We went for a few drinks on a Friday night and ordered food where we were told they weren’t severing food at 9:01 when we ordered at 8:47pm when the kitchen didn’t close until 9pm. We had only ordered chips and a garlic bread and had already had the payment received and 10 mins later told us we were unable to have our food.After speaking to management on shift we were told that as the kitchen hadn’t had a check in for a 10 min period they closed the kitchen early. We then had to get a refund which would take a 5 working day return. One member of staff was extremely helpful and tried as much as she could whereas one was quite blunt and very quick to the point in our return and explaining the process, for a Friday I found this very unacceptable.”

“Just had a lovely family lunch. The food was great. The staff are so friendly. Been here a few times over the years and have always had a lovely time. Very reasonably priced. The building is very welcoming and beautifully decorated. Keep up the excellent work. Love it x”

“What a waste of a car park. Would have a child's play area and more outdoor seating. Lovely pub and atmosphere but need work at the back”
