A quiet country pub well placed fir a refreshment break when hiking, biking or car touring in Arkengarthdale/Swaledale. It has the added attraction of having the river bridge featured in the opening scenes of All Creatures Grest & Small TV series.
Great location for a much needed break on a walk along the dale and lovely landlady serving refreshing Black Sheep ale. Apparently suffered with the recent floods but back in business and heartily recommended

I called into the Red Lion in late December when I was walking in the area. A super cup of tea - the best in the area - which was perfect after walking in the drizzle! Rowena, the landlady, is very knowledgeable about the area and the premises has a lovely nostalgic feeling. I really recommend visiting.
