“Small bar that serves traditional pub food. All food was home cooked and tasted pretty good. Not a place you'd get dressed up for a date night but does what it does well.”

“We recently found ourselves at The Denison Arms whilst on holiday. The pub we had booked for our evening meal went back on our agreed booking and specifically requested table. Our autistic 7 year old son ended up having a meltdown, as he knew where we going, and going to be sitting etc. More importantly, he knew he was going to be having chocolate brownie for dessert! This happened on a Friday evening, and we knew that we would be hard pushed to find somewhere to accommodate us at such short notice. After a short drive around and with our son in meltdown mode, my partner went into the Denison Arms to see if they may have a table free. He spoke with Claire, who I believe runs the pub, who said they did have availability for dining. However, when he explained that we needed a chocolate brownie, she explained that they did not have one on the menu. The locals sat in the bar were wondering where they could obtain a chocolate brownie, and one even offered to go to a local shop to buy one! Claire then remembered that she had bought a chocolate brownie for herself, and kindly offered it to give it our son!We enjoyed what was some of the nicest food I've eaten in a pub for a long time, sat in a very welcoming, cosy pub that was light and spacious enough to feel like you had space to breathe. Service was fairly quick, to say that the food appeared genuinely homemade. Most importantly, we truly valued how Claire went above and beyond to make sure our boy had his needs met. Instead of asking us what meal options he may like, she made a point of addressing him directly, and her staff were just as friendly and understanding.I wish we had discovered this gem towards the start of our holiday, rather on the last evening, but we will definitely be back!Thankyou so much, Claire!”
