A great venue. The food was really tasty and the portions were generous. The macaroni and cheese was a hit. it was incredibly busy the day we went - a TV crew with Matt Baker had taken over half the cafe, so we had to wait a while. The kids browsed whilst I waited with the dog. Yes, another Northumbrian establishment that is brilliantly dog friendly. totally recommend the cheese scones and carrot cake. I can see someone recently was disappointed with their Welsh rarebit, maybe they've made changes since because mine was delicious. One bit of toast but lovely good quality thick bread with lots of yummy tasting cheese. Delicious chips (I like carbs so was happy with this accompaniment) and a simple but crisps salad. Can't fault it. A couple of breakfast baps and a couple of coffee's, the baps were very generous. Superb bookshop, could spend hours in there and we never leave without a purchase.
