The Narrows is just a few yards West of the main square in Abingdon and offers the usual Wetherspoons fare. I was there for breakfast, which was the usual excellent value; it's open from 8am on a Sunday and earlier in the week. The pub is cavernous despite not appearing very large from the frontage. The only odd feature was that when I arrived a lot of the chairs were wet where they had been cleaning them.
They no longer do the Chicken and Rib combo, which I used to go in there for. The person at the till wasn't sure, and I had to ask her to go and find out, she eventually reluctantly did. The server was good. I would not fault her. I had their spicy chicken. The marinade used on it is not pleasant. Tasted too vinigery rather than spicy. I have warm chocolate sponge and ice cream for dessert... that was absolutely delicious ?

Nipped in (for what what we hoped would be a quick stop) with two small children who needed emergency sustenance. Unfortunately, service took an age and was a touch grumpy - but their food, when it came, was surprisingly good (in particular, the fish was excellent; a generous portion, piping hot with crunchy batter).I'd maybe avoid the Doom Bar, which seemed watery
