Tillie Bar & Bistro
16 Lanark Rd, Crossford, CarlukeWe decided on a last minute lunch so phoned ahead to book a table but on arrival we were the only diners, one other couple were enjoying an afternoon drink. The menu was confusing as there was only sandwiches, burgers and desserts then a set menu. I decided on a starter and main and my wife and daughter were going for main and dessert from the set menu. We all ordered steak pie. While waiting on my starter the waitress informed me that my steak pie would be a smaller portion than the other two as I was ordering from the set menu. So when the two desserts were ordered they would be charged at full price as would the larger steak pies. Very confusing as there are no prices on menu for mains and no mention of this in advance of ordering. If I hadn't ordered a starter we would have received three large steak pies at full price. We explained we were all ordering from set menu then proceeded to wonder how small our meals would be. Luckily it was a needless worry as the food and portions were all excellent. My mushroom starter was amazing, maybe big it up on the menu too. Described as creamy mushrooms on toast didn't do it justice, it was a mouth watering, tasty pile of creamy mushrooms on beautiful garlic bread. The steak pies were really tasty, I could have lucked the plate, the gravy was so good. Vegetables were very well cooked, the chips, like the plate, were roasting hot and perfectly cooked, the mash spot on and the meat melted in the mouth. The pastry was slightly well fired for my taste but nice and soft in the middle. I was encouraged to order dessert after the quality of the first two courses and both the biscoff cheesecake and sticky toffee were really, really good. For the quality of food the price is fantastic value. Although empty the atmosphere was good, service was first class and the cleanliness and decor of the toilets really stood out. Overall an excellent first visit but please please sort out the menu so it's clear what is on offer. We'll be back.

The Buttery Coffee Shop
Silverbirch Garden Centre, Lanark Rd, Crossford, CarlukeDuring the Christmas season it, like many of the coffee shops in the Clyde valley, has been very busy. At least a twenty minute wait. Even so, it’s a great coffee shop and worth the weight. Inside the decor and ambience easily makes it the best coffee shop in the whole of the Clyde Valley. The food, the staff and the overall atmosphere is excellent. We keep going back which must be a sign that we like the place.

Relish
3 High St, CarlukeI took one star off because a member of staff will quite rude to me and skammed my food on the counter, also very impatient, wish I got her name, blonde hair and glasses. However the other staff are always friendly and the food is amazing. Great choices and really clean place.

The Silver Birch Coffee Shop
165 Lanark Rd, Crossford, CarlukeBeautifully presented Christmas collection and ornaments etc. Lovely to see but would need a very large house for a lot of the trees , garlands etc. Very expensive for most items. Toilets only available in the cafe which wasn’t very practical as there was a long queue outside which was not very practical in the pouring rain, so just abandoned the idea.

The Kirkton Inn - Carluke
10 Kirkton St, CarlukeHave been several times for meals and drinks since the new owners & management took over last year. Staff are lovely with the customers, always had great service, nothing is too much trouble. Food is delicious and beautifully presented. Always had a fabulous meal, cannot fault the quality and value for money. The Manager/Owner Chris welcomes any feedback and quickly sorts out any concerns. Also he is happy to hear our requests, eg- for good quality wines, which he sorted out and then duely improved the wine selection. Huge selection of quality spirits and beers too. They are really working hard to make the business a success, not just for themselves, but for the Customers from Carluke and afar who appreciate a Great wee local pub.As I follow them on Facebook, I get frequent updates of their themed nights and what's on different nights. Oh and it's a dog friendly pub too!! What's not to love? Top marks from me!Keep up the great work guys!

Mr Rice carluke
8 Kirkton St, CarlukeGroup of us put in a massive post-Christmas party order in. What can I say? Outstanding! The curry, ribs, salt and pepper munchie box, chicken baws, chow mein… all of it was unbelievable! I’m actually considering relocating to Carluke, just to be nearer this absolute gem. Yer man Rice is putting the town on the map.

Subway
46 High St, CarlukeThree footlong sandwiches for £11; teatime deal. The girl serving was a credit to the company. I got two sandwiches with meat and one vegetarian, I noted that she changed her gloves every time that she handled the meat sandwiches before preparing and wrapping the vegetarian one. Great hygiene practice.

Ebi's Takeaway
6 Kirkton St, CarlukePortion sizes reducing and prices going up!The food however is very good and the service is great. Chi Ken tika kebabs are superb and love the Pizza, make it crispy on the bottom while still juicey on top. ????But!I Still can't understand why we need to pay for a paper bag to take your food away. It's only plastic bags you need to pay extra for so this doesn't seem right.Making a fortune just from the bags they sell now. ???
