Excellent restaurant above busy pub. The food is high quality (and the portions defeated us - try the seafood platter, just great); the decor and buzz of the restaurant give it a great atmosphere. Staff were quick and friendly. Well worth a visit but I think booking is probably a good idea.
Last night we went to the Ship Inn with friends. The front restaurant was very busy. The staff were brilliant, they were polite, attentive and very professional. As for the cuisine, what can one say ? We had Cullen Skink ( fantastic ! ), Highland chicken and fish pie etc . The New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc wine was on a par with Cloudy Bay, superb ! My wife and I went to the Ship Inn for lunch on Thursday the 7th and we had an excellent meal, the Cullen Skink was incredible and a really good portion. My wife’s cheese and pickle sandwich was also very good and the service was excellent. I would recommend the Ship Inn to anyone.
