For a first time trip in Scotland, this pub added onto the positive experience. It was an unintentional visit but I’m very glad I got to experience it. I ordered the topped chips, which came with chorizo, a nice sauce, some garnish and I think slices of sausage. Not only had I never come across this as a topping for chips before, but they were beautiful. Pub quiz was in action, somewhat desperately when I arrived so avoided it. Staff were friendly and helpful albeit with a wild manic edge to their demeanor so I was polite and circumspect then moved to the pre-booked back room to meet the people I intended. Not a bad venue that central in Edinburgh and the prices were relatively inoffensive.

The atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing. Management and staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is pretty good - especially the fat chips which are wonderful! It’s good value for money. Tea/ coffees are also available and the beers are interesting and varied.
