Just spent five nights in Newcastleton. We visited the Liddesdale hotel each day with our dog for a few drinks. Thomas the chef advised us on the Morrocan spicy beef which was absolutely superb. Very friendly locals who made us very welcome in the bar.
The breakfast was great. Thomas was a n excellent host. The rooms are a little tired but they are clean and warm.This is a great place to stay as there are some very good local walks. Thomas is also an excellent cook and makes you feel very welcome.
Three of us stayed here on a cycling holiday. Tom the manager is brilliant, a good cook and good company. Rooms are clean, a little dated, everything is reasonably priced, with a secure place for bicycles. We would stay there again.Nearby activities: Fantastic for mountain biking and on a quiet B road for road cycling.
