We had booked for afternoon tea which the website led us to believe would be in The Feathers Tea Room. Having now read the reviews for the tea room I am very glad that on arrival we were re-directed next door to the actual hotel. We had a characterful small room to ourselves looking onto the street with mellow jazz in the background. Amazing old building looks awesome from the outside. It's not so good inside. There are original features, but it's completely lost what it should look like inside. It's been modernised far too much , new flat plaster painted and wall papered, etc. pretty Characterless now.

Iconic hotel with lots of atmosphere. We called in for afternoon tea but just felt that it needed a good clean. Dust on ledges and the interior didn’t match the spectacular exterior. Could be so easily sorted with good housekeeping.
