I like this place. Nice rooms. Good hospitality and good evening meal. Location loses 1 star as there's nothing else close and you need to drive but it does make for a quiet location.

Disappointed with the food and some of the service this evening. The burger was as if it was frozen and served up, had nicer patties for a couple of quid from a kebab van. Definitely wasn’t prepared in house and fresh. No seasoning to the patty and rubbery texture was offered something else but service was slow people in the restaurant waiting a long time for puddings even though it wasn’t busy and tbh the burger really put me off trying something else just to be disappointed again. The beer was off. Just very disappointing. Had to call in and get some dinner from the local co op on the way home. On the way out was told that the burger was new to them and the chef agreed it wasn’t very nice, well surely if it’s new they should be trying it before sending it out on the menu for service and also in an establishment like this shouldn’t they be making up their own burgers not buying pre made in?

We booked to stay at the Redan Inn for one night and we're really excited as the reviews looked amazing. The pub itself is lovely and the food was delicious - rather large portions but the quality of the food was great, especially the home made bread. The reason for 3 stars is because of the mishaps when arriving. When we were shown to our room if became clear that both rooms booked had not been cleaned, with wet towels in our room and in my brother's room an unmade bed, food on the bed and on the table, a curtain pulled off the wall. Quite shocking and if became apparent all the rooms were in this state within the pub. The team did work hard to sort this out and were very apologetic, with a free round for us at the bar. However it was really not great... especially the state of my brother's room. We also had some issues with the water in our room not getting warm for over 15 minutes when we were on a tight schedule to leave in the morning, this needs to be looked into. I will say that I would return here as I know mistakes happen and clearly there had been an issue with the housekeeper. The room was lovely and large with a comfy bed and as mentioned the food was delightful. It's also the only pub that I've been to that serves a fantastic Moretti - as a city girl it's hard to find a decent pint these days and that one was unbelievably smooth and crisp!

Very nice food but service poor. Had to wait ages for “ nibbles “ ( olives and bread with oil and balsamic vinegar ) , and then the main meal.Food & drinks: Delicious food and hot.

We booked by telephone for 3 nights. No confirmation email so we contacted again, the email then arrived with the dates wrong...so we contacted again...perhaps it was an omen. We were disappointed that the room had no drawers...simply wooden boxes at the sides of the bed and to hang clothes there were 4 tapheads screwed to a wooden block on the wall. Dinner the first night was disappointing..the menu offered was not as varied as the website. At that point we decided to eat out for the remainder of the stay. Next morning started with a lukewarm shower which leaked and which had a broken door lock. For breakfast we both ordered simply poached eggs on toast. The only choice of toast was sourdough, this seemed OK but it came resembling charcoal and we both had to return it. I asked the waitress for just a slice of untoasted sourdough on a plate with no butter....it came back lightly toasted and buttered. My wife's eggs came back covered in pepper...convenient since no salt or pepper supplied on the table. Overall nothing was offered and everything had to be asked for...even the cutlery. The next morning we ordered full English...perfectly good meal arrived...but we still had to keep asking for basics. Arriving back that night we found our room had not been serviced. The duty assistant manager resolved the matter. He noted a list of our concerns....including the fact that the Wifi signal was too weak to use. The other major issue was the music. We appreciate that it is a pub ... but the loudspeaker for the bar was just underneath our room floor and on the second night the beat music continued to 11.20pm.We regularly stay in pubs around the country.....and this is the first time we have written a poor review. Our reflections driving home ...this pub is OK for one night followed by a full English......but for the money......there are better ones around.

Lovely pub, tried Neck Oil here for the first time and loved it! Great pizzas too.

Went for a family meal, 3 adults and 4 children aged 4-13. Menu was limited, which I don't mind, but they only had 3 pizzas and 1 burger left, so some had their 2nd or 3rd choices. The food came out in dribs and drabs with the smallest children waiting around 10 minutes after the first food arrived. The pizzas were bizarre, giant fluffy things, like eating a loaf of bread. I've had their pizza before and had a nice thin crust. This was like nothing I'd ever eaten. The staff were friendly but there was no table service. We had to go to the bar to order drinks, to order food and to ask for the bill. The bill was wrong. When the waitress returned with the correct bill, it had £10.77 service charge added on an £85 bill, which seemed a lot considering we'd had no service.

Following up on your comment. We didn't call 2 hours before arrival to ask if you allowed pets, we called to double-check our booking as we have had trouble in the past with booking pet friendly hotels through booking sites and arriving to find that is not the case (exactly what happened here). The problem I have is that you assured us that we would receive a refund and then went back on what was agreed.Like I said.... snakey.

After a misunderstanding/ mistake through a hotel booking site regarding whether or not the hotel allows pets, our booking was cancelled. The hotel apologised for the situation (we were also travelling with our baby) and assured us that we would receive a full refund. The refund never materialised and when I chased the matter through the website the hotel denied us the refund. Snakey

Had a roast here with my partner on Easter Sunday. First of all, it's a nice looking friendly local pub - and the staff were nice, helpful and efficient. The roast however was pretty disappointing, I went for a chicken roast, so can't comment on the other meats. What I received was well presented, and warm/ certainly cooked, the chicken supplied however was a whole small chicken, maybe a Bantum or something similar which meant there wasn't actually much meat involved - it was also tasteless, as was most of the Vegetables. Not normally one to bother leaving a review but I feel for the price and considering everything else is right some feedback would probably help. I would visit again and hope the quality had improved.

Food was poorly served and was of an inadequate standard, steak was cooked wrong and wasn’t provided with a steak knife, nor were we asked if we were happy with our food. Highly recommend you avoid it and try the Somerset wagon ??

Stopped here for lunch again. Have eaten here frequently in recent years and it's a charming country Inn. The interior is nicely decorated with comfy chairs, and even a sofa facing the log burner! Lunch menu is more limited than dinner but still good choices and meal for 2 with drinks was £40. Staff were lovely and the regulars always say hello too! Try it. There are also lovely walks nearby, a great garden and easy parking.Food & drinks: Lovely pies, classic pub meals, good veggie options and nice range of beers

A very good place to relax. The room had such an incredibly atmospheric decor. These oldies were amazing. An old scale, a machine for making and buying cigarettes (the first time I saw such a device), an old safe, an old climate lamp and a wooden trunk, all amazing

Nice pub with great seating area and friendly atmosphere. Food is very good and there is a good selection of drinks. Rooms are nice and cosy could do with the odd repair. Only negatives are the towels are small and the heating didn't come on when I stayed so the room got a bit cold.
