Visiting family in Sheffield for the weekend, we booked a table a table here based on it being local and having reasonable reviews. Very good selection of beers - Moonshine very nice. Meal was excellent- l had the fillet of cod with Arbroath Smokie sauce from the Autummn menu - sauce was very good. Staff friendly and welcoming and even better, no piped music in eating area so we could hear each other talk. I thoroughly recommend The Rising Sun if you are ever visiting the area.
Really enjoyed the food. I liked that the menu was split between pub classics and slightly fancier options.Dietary restrictions: Dealt with allergies really well, always nice to be asked.

Even though it was rammed, efficient service without thinking you were waiting too long once. Excellent selection of larger and the best fish and chips I’ve had for years! Will definitely be coming back soon.
