Can't call myself a Local Guide without reviewing the best pub in Stafford.My partner and I moved here a few years ago and kept smelling the carvery as we walked past and I finally got a chance to try it a couple of weeks ago. I am not a small woman and can confidently say it's the best I've had, and I've had a few! ? it's always packed on a Sunday, the carveries are extremely popular so I definitely recommend booking in advance. Very nice pub, less than a 5 minute walk from the train station with a good range of ales, lagers and spirits. I tried the Pig on the Wall from the local Black Country Brewery which was very moreish and although we didn't have food it did look good and very well priced.The pub is split into various areas and shows live sports as well. Plenty of room, even for a weekend and it is possible to reserve a table if you're worried about getting in on busier nights.Highly recommended...read full review
Having been working in Stafford for the last week, my colleagues and I were eager to find a local pub which would allow us to escape a hard-day's work.We frequented the Bird in Hand most nights and we all enjoyed the warm welcome, competent selection of ales and larger and 'bar snacks,' we were all massive fans of the Scotch eggs & rolls - there is also Sky Sports in the bar which was a nice addition, but did not consume the whole pub.The staff were very friendly and engaging,...read full review
