Staying not far away for a couple of nights and we visited here for a meal. Very quiet on the night we were there but it was the Easter holidays so not many students around. The pub had a very friendly atmosphere and we sat next to the fire which was very welcome on a wet cold April night. Food was typical pub grub but well done with good sized portions. Beer was very good.
This was a Sunday lunch with friends from London who are used to quality lunch outlets and to hear them say this is by far the best Sunday lunch they had ever had was no surprise to us as the food is plentiful, hot, well presented fresh and so tasty. Only staying in Ipswich for a couple of nights and wanted to get off the waterfront captive area for food. Just behind the marina we found this corner pub. Great place, old original beams and open fires. lots of little spaces to eat, great pub atmosphere. I have ham, egg and chips, all good value and super hot chunky crisp chips. My partner had lamb shank, which just fell of the bone and very tasty. Staff helpful, table service, good beer and wine.
