I have a relative in the care home nearby and chose to eat here, as I’d read reviews saying it was dog friendly. With friendly locals. Having over a 2 hour journey, each way, it seemed a perfect way to enjoy a visit taking him out to lunch. So I reserved a table with the inclusion of 2 dogs.The staff were friendly and welcoming. Genuine local boozer, serving good beer and food at reasonable prices. It deserved to have more customers last Saturday night when we visited with friends, maybe Strictly kept people in. This is a traditional local pub, and the star ratings are in the context. Friendly staff and patrons, dog friendly (old girl was treated to a few biscuits from the regulars and was well fussed), with surprisingly well presented and cooked food - the menu was unpretentious, but having order the chicken kebab and expected standard pub grub, enjoyed tenderly cooked chicken with tasty salad - apparently the new chef is Turkish so maybe I lucked out with my order.
