Great pub, great setting with benches and tables in the old roadside parking bays where you can sit, chat and watch the world go on this old part of town. Fine beer which was my reason for the visit, thus no food score. service score reflects the lack of staff numbers, not the quality of service.
I love this pub, very ancient and unspoilt, lovely staff and with draft TEA and excellent pub food particularly pies. what more could you want? Well what I could do with less of is dogs. We were placed in a small corner with 2 dogs on one side and another fully dressed in a striped onesy on the other. And even worse one began to shake as they do- god knows what was sprayed into the air. Please Mr Nelson have a separate place for people with dogs preferably outside

Wow, went for an evening meal with friends, really friendly staff, great atmosphere, but the star was the food. We all agreed that it was the best we have had eating out for a long time. The home made pie was melt in your mouth, vegetarian meal was excellent, along with the pork belly. Selection of vegetables again cooked to perfection.Thanks to you all
