The Emperor Hersham
7, Hersham Centre, Hersham, Walton-on-Thamesi wouldn’t recommend. while the food wasn’t bad, the waiter, upon being told that i was a vegetarian and would want a separate plate to the rest of my party, went on a ten minute tangent about how i don’t ‘fit the profile’ of a vegetarian. this is because ‘vegetarians are usually slim, and you are not’. he then went on to reiterate this a few more times in different ways, laughing despite the rest of our table was silent.as somebody who has suffered with multiple mental illnesses, including bulimia and body dysmorphia, this really made the rest of the meal very difficult to enjoy. i know i cannot expect the waiter to know my medical history, but that is the exact reason you do not say things like this. my father in law’s birthday meal, which he paid a lot of money for, was then clouded with an air of awkwardness that continued throughout the entirety of the meal.EDIT-my mother in law requested an urgent call from the owner of the restaurant regarding the situation. he was very apologetic, offered multiple avenues of reparation and assured us the issue would be dealt with internally. he also offered us a free meal, which we declined as we didn’t feel it was necessary - so we settled on them sending a sum of money to a charity of our choice. so, while it’s a shame that it happened, it was dealt with in a mature, understanding way and i don’t think it’ll stop us from returning in the future.

The Royal George
The Royal George, 130-132 Hersham Rd, Hersham, Walton-on-ThamesAccidentally drove past this pub one day, never knew it was there. Been there twice since and had food both times. Really great food and very well priced. Keep up the great work.
