The Roebuck, Alcester
Birmingham Rd, Kings Coughton, AlcesterFood was impecable and the waitresses were lovely. Short wait time however the new managers were very rude to the chef on several occasions and shouted at chef and staff for no reason, not nice to see!

The Village Cafe
48 High St, Bidford-on-Avon, AlcesterIf theres a recipe for success, this cafe is it! We were staying at ‘The Old Workshop’ cottage across the road (another wonderful place) and called in for coffee and cake with our dog. The fact that on a January Monday morning it was almost full is testament to how popular this place is and it’s no wonder! A warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff, lovely coffee, great cakes, quirky and interesting interior made it a firm favourite for us. So much so that after meeting friends in the afternoon for a walk with our dogs, we all went back for more! If you’re in the area, this is the place to go.

The Dog & Partridge
15 Bleachfield St, AlcesterMy friend and I live at opposite sides of the country and this village was the half-way point. So at random we met at this friendly pub. We had the vegetarian breakfast that was amazing and the kind lady that served us and kept us watered was a lovely host. We were only going to stay for a short while however the atmosphere was so warm (helped with the real fire) that we ended up staying for several hours. Would recommend.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian breakfast was ample, well presented and of tasty quality - though the vegan sausage could do with an upgrade!!Parking: We went there on a Sunday morning and the car park next door was empty - though I understand that it fills up very quickly at other times.

Nelsons Artisan School & Bakery
9 Butter St, AlcesterHaving a baker of this calibre in our little market town must be helping everyone’s house prices are for that alone I give them 5 stars ?. However in all seriousness this bakery is absolutely incredible, I just can’t fault anything they produce; I’m just in awe of the talent. If anything it puts me in a quandary between wanting them to expand their offering but at the same time wanting it to stay a local treasure. They also offer a delivery service which is a rarity in this area .

The Holly Bush
37 Henley St, AlcesterSince Red & his wife took over this fine pub a year ago it has got better & better. Music that makes you want to stay & with a decent beer selection. The guest ale is always something to go for of course. The locals are back with a fine age spread from 18 to 80+. The welcome is as warm as the log burner. Life has been breathed into this fine old building & its soul has returned too. When Red & his family are taking a step back from their great front of house work then the other bar staff make you feel just as at home. When the weather allows then head to the sheltered garden too. The previous tenants almost killed the place so ignore reviews from 2021 & before. The Holly Bush is back !!!!!!! Use it ??

Arrow Mill
Arrow, AlcesterThis is a really lovely hotel and restaurantThe rooms were beautiful. Decor, furnishings highest class, bed very comfy, great bathroom. Really can't fault it.The bar was excellent. Great real ale offer, lots of seatingThe service in the restaurant was very good. Breakfast was exceptional, served hot on a hot plate and nothing was too much trouble.Dinner was good, my only issue was our two friends are vegetarian, and the choices on the menu were very limited and then what they were served was incredibly poor and was sent back. All in all a superb hotel. Will definitely return.

Seafoods
84 High St, Bidford-on-Avon, AlcesterFantastic fish and chips. My husband is gluten free but none of the rest of us are. We tried the gluten free Wednesdays. The batter was super crispy and the chips perfect. The portions are generous. One piece was a little smaller so we were given a free mini fish filet to balance it out. Couldn’t ask for better service. It’s really near the river and park so perfect for picking up some food and eating outdoors.

Alcester Fish Bar
Kinwarton Rd, AlcesterThis is a great chippy! We recently moved to Wilmcote and have been trying to find a good local chippy, this fish bar has become our favourite. I have cod, my partner has chicken kebab on a pitta and we share chips, portions are good and the kebab is always loaded with meat. Only pain is sometimes they leave the chips wrapped up on the counter by the open door while they prep the kebab meaning after that and our drive home the chips aren’t as hot as I’d like, but to be fair I think I will just ask them to do the chips last next time.
