Nice comfortable place, food seemed popular, my own experience was wouldn't rush to dine there again but I might just have been unlucky on this occasion. Otherwise a pleasant place to be.

Nice place, stayed in adjacent hotel and ate in pub as it was convenient and dog friendly. Food was served promptly for us, calamari and pasta. Calamari was really nice. Good selection of drinks so you should be able to find something you like. We love the hotel so no doubt we will revisit The BearKid-friendliness: No problem with kids and flexible between kids and adult menus

Quite confused by the relationship between The Bear and the Swan's Nest Hotel and Bistrot Pierre. It seems The Bear is part of the same company and the menu is the same but you can dine in the pub rather than in the restaurant per se. We preferred it as cosier and more like a gastropub ambience.
